Napa cabbage is a type of green leafy vegetable that is a popular ingredient in Asian cuisines. This cabbage variety is harvested at an early age and when sufficiently developed, it is cooked and eaten whole as a cooked vegetable. It is commonly referred to as Chinese cabbage, napa cabbage or simply cabbage.
In the United States, nappa cabbage is mostly used as a raw vegetable rather than a cooked vegetable. In Europe, there are a few types of Asian green cabbages grown for consumption. These include the traditional French cabbage, Chinese, Japanese and the Korean variety.
